SDS Editors Attended the Foremost Academic Conference on Oral ＆ Maxillofacial Surgery in Hong Kong
The 23rd International Conference on Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (ICOMS) 2017 was held from March 31 to April 3 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This conference was co-sponsored by the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Hong Kong Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Association. The SDS editorial team (Rui-Rui Zhang, the managing Editor, and Xue Kou, the market Assistant Editor), together with more than 1,500 representatives from 77 countries and regions, took part in the conference.
International experts in the fields of oral and maxillofacial surgery (including craniomaxillofacial, orthognathic, alveolar, and repair and reconstruction surgery), dental implants, cleft lip and palate pathology and care, head and neck neoplasms and trauma, and the temporomandibular joint, and other specialties, gathered to take part in in-depth discussions. The conference promoted the presentation of information on the most advanced academic perspectives, research results, and diagnosis and treatment technologies from all over the world.
Dr. Fu-Gui Zhang, one of the Editorial Board members of SDS, also attended the conference. Dr. Zhang, who graduated from the West China College of Stomatology Sichuan University, is an assistant professor, teacher, and oral & maxillofacial surgeon at Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Dr. Zhang highly valued the prospects and development of SDS and also emphasized that we need to strictly adhere to publishing high-quality manuscripts and promoting the journal in the early stage. In addition, he would like to contribute a high-quality review article to the journal as soon as possible.
During the conference, the representative Editors of the journal introduced the aims and vision of SDS to Dr. Morten Schiodt, a famous expert specialized in oral and maxillofacial surgery from the University Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark. After careful listening, Dr. Morten Schiodt gave some instructive suggestions, and also showed his support to the journal. He would try to organize a Special Issue related to "osteonecrosis" for the journal. Additionally, Professor Andrew Heggie and several other experts also said they would support the journal and recommend SDS to their colleagues.
The conference allowed the SDS editorial team to learn more about the research status of domestic and international oral and maxillofacial surgery, hot topics, and research progress in related fields. The Editors recognized the responsibility and mission of the journal as an academic platform for experts in the fields to share their research findings. Meanwhile, we hope SDS can serve more researchers in the field of stomatology, and strive to make it a high-quality journal with international influence!
